12/20/2002 - New and Relocating Band MembersMesa Caledonian would like to officially welcome Elijah Woodward and Harry Williams into the band. Elijah joins us from Tucson where he was formerly Pipe Sergeant of the Seven Pipers Society. Elijah is also an avid solo player currently ranking near the top of Grade 3 in WUSPBA's Champion of Champions tables. Harry is an accomplished snare drummer, having played with the Louisville Pipe Band and the Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band, where he was Drum Sergeant. Welcome guys! On the relocation front, Dan Roush and his wife Jeanne have moved to Phoenix due to Dan's job. Dan has been a snare drummer with the band since 1997 and was commuting from Denver with several other players to compete with the band. We are very happy to have him locally for performances and rehearsals. 12/18/2002 - Merry Main and MCPB Holiday Party
The band also had their annual Holiday Party on the 13th. We were joined at this year's party by Victoria Grant, a fantastic piper and friend from Scotland. She was visiting Arizona for the first time and enjoyed playing with the band. Aside from a few tunes and celebration, yearly awards were handed out to the band members for various accomplishments. 2002 Award Winners
09/07/2002 - MCPB Hits the Recording Studio!Our pipers and drummers went into their first recording session for the new CD (currently untitled) which is scheduled for release this winter. The band is very excited about the variety of tracks and instruments going into this new project. Mesa Caledonian would also like to express its thanks to Clear Cut Acoustic for their hard work in co-producing both our latest project and our previous album, First Impressions. 06/10/2002 - Jim Ryan Joins Our RanksMesa Caledonian is pleased to announce the arrival of Jim Ryan as a piper in the band. Jim comes from New York where he was Pipe Major of the American Celtic Pipe Band . Jim brings 25 years of piping experience to the band which also includes playing with the City of Washington Pipe Band when they won the Worlds in Grade 2 back in 1999. Welcome, Jim! We're glad to have you. 04/15/2002 - Tartan Day Dinner A SuccessThanks to everyone who attended our Tartan Day Dinner Gala and Silent Auction. We appreciate the support from friends, family and fans. 03/01/2002 - Arizona Highland Games RecapMesa Caledonian Pipe Band recently performed as the host band at the Arizona Highland Games for the first annual Desert Southwest Pipe Band Championships. While the band did not compete, several soloists took to the boards and did well. Results will be posted here at a later date. 01/27/2002 - Upcoming Dinner and ConcertsDon't miss two of Mesa Caledonian's next fundraisers! The Salute to Saint Patrick, on March 3rd will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Phoenix! Please come out and enjoy Celtic music and celebrate St. Patrick's Day a bit early! Also, this year's 4th Annual Tartan Day Gala Dinner and Silent Auction will be held on April 13th at the Mesa Sheraton.
